Final Thoughts

First of all, I want to congratulate you on getting to the end of this devotion. It is quite the commitment you made and followed through on.

I hope that as you went through this study the Holy Spirit worked on your heart to help grow the small bit of faith that you had at the beginning and blossom it into a faith ready to know Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. However, I understand that for many you will have further questions. Possibly due to the questions raised in this devotion or possibly others that stirred within you as you read the Word. Either way, I urge you to take the next step of the challenge and speak with a mature Christian who can answer some of your questions or at least point you toward resources that might help to answer them. When having these conversations I hope that you will keep the same open mind toward faith that you had in reading the Gospel for the last 30 days - and if you are a believer answering these questions I hope you will remember the rules set forward at the beginning of this devotional. I will add one final request - if you do happen to come across a believer who is less than grace filled in responding to your questions I hope you will forgive them and find another that you can speak with. The reality is that coming into a relationship with Christ does not make us perfect and we are all working to become better in our walk with our Lord; unfortunately, this means that at times we may not represent our savior in the best of lights at all times.

Finally, if you were part of that first group - the ones that were moved through this study to come into a relationship with Jesus I urge you to not wait. While I certainly urge you to find a local church (and in fact I highly recommend visiting www.churchmap.org to help you with this) there is no need to be at a church to make this very important decision. That is the wonderful thing about the sacrifice that Jesus made - it removed the separation that existed in the old covenant and allows us to now come directly to the Father in the name of Christ. God no longer resides in a Temple separated from His people but instead resides in each of us.

This means that if you are ready to know Jesus as your savior and to have a personal relationship with your heavenly Father you can do so right now. Romans 10:9-10 reads:

“. . . if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart, one believes resulting in righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation.”

If you truly believe that Jesus is Lord (that means boss by the way), that he came to die for your sins and that God raised him from the dead then all you have to do is confess it with your mouth and you will enter into salvation through Christ. If you are not sure what to say you can simply repeat the short prayer below out loud - just remember it is not the words but the position of your heart that matters:

“Heavenly Father, I come to you now as a sinner. But I thank you that you made a way for me to be free. I believe that you sent your son Jesus to die on the cross for my sins and that on the 3rd day you rose him from the dead so that I can have new life in him. I declare Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide me and direct my path from this day forward. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.”

If you prayed that prayer in faith then you have just made the best decision of your life and I am happy to call you a brother or sister in Christ. That said, your journey is not done, in fact, it is just beginning. As a believer there are a couple of things that you need.

First, you need a Bible. If you don’t have one One Christian Family would be happy to give you one free of cost to help you in your new journey. Simply go to fill out this short form and we will send you one.

Second, you need a good church. Christianity is not a journey walked alone and it is important that you find a local church to gather with fellow believers to learn with, rejoice and mourn with, and simply enjoy this blessing we call life with. If you need help finding a church that you can feel at home in we urge you to check out www.churchmap.org. This simple tool is designed to help you find the right church for you, whatever that might be.
